St. Stanislaus uses big 5th inning to take 3A game 1

Amory Varsity Panthers stayed in it until the end, but St. Stanislaus Varsity Rock-a-chaws pulled away late in a 7-3 victory on Tuesday.  The game was tied at three with St. Stanislaus Varsity Rock-a-chaws batting in the top of the fifth when Kyle Stegall drew a walk, scoring one run.

Amory Varsity Panthers lost despite out-hitting St. Stanislaus Varsity Rock-a-chaws seven to four.

Amory Varsity Panthers opened up scoring in the first inning, when Jackson Howell singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Hill Gainey was on the hill for St. Stanislaus Varsity Rock-a-chaws. The bulldog lasted five and a third innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out six.

Tyler Sledge led things off on the mound for Amory. The pitcher allowed three hits and four runs over four innings, striking out two.  Cayden Smith and Ty Hester entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively.

Amory Varsity Panthers racked up seven hits on the day.  Braden Maranto, Bryce Glenn, and Howell each collected multiple hits for Amory Varsity Panthers.  Howell, Glenn, and Maranto each managed two hits to lead Amory Varsity Panthers. Amory Varsity Panthers didn’t commit a single error in the field. Hester had the most chances in the field with nine.
