Vancleave and Our Lady Academy successfully defended their championships, while Clinton and Center Hill won their first state titles in the MHSAA/Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Volleyball State Championships on October 26th at Mississippi State University.
Vancleave defeated New Albany 25-20, 25-19, 25-15 to win a third straight 4A title. The Lady Bulldogs completed the season at 39-4. The Bulldogs were 24-10.
OLA defeated St. Andrew’s 25-21, 25-21, 25-14 to win the Class I championship for the 8th consecutive season. The Crescents finished 37-5. The Lady Saints ended 25-11.
Center Hill defeated Long Beach 25-21, 25-14, 20-25, 25-18 for the Class 5A championship. The Lady Mustangs, the Class I runner-up from 2007 through 2009, finished the season 16-16. The Lady Bearcats ended 21-9.
Clinton outlasted Lewisburg in the day’s only five-set match by a score of 21-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-27, 15-11. Making their first appearance in a state championship match, the Lady Arrows completed their season at 33-7. The Lady Patriots ended 30-12.
