Selected Mr. Football in Class 2A for the second consecutive year … Led the Dragons to 9-4 record and second round of the 2A playoffs … Carried 257 times for 3,132 yards and scored 36 touchdowns in 2017 despite missing 2 games with a torn meniscus in his left knee … Credited with 60 tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 1 interception on defense … Career totals: 8,095 yards rushing (2nd in MHSAA history) and 101 TDs in 5 varsity seasons … Chosen for Bernard Blackwell All-Star Classic … Being recruited by Division I programs, including Southern Miss and Louisiana-Lafayette.

Pisgah coach Michael Granberry says:
“I think Don found out this season how much football meant to him when he was injured and realized it could possibly be over. The doctors said he would be out four weeks, but it ended up being only two. He probably ran the ball even more physically than last year. You watch Don’s highlights. It’s like he looked for contact. When you saw him on those long runs, there were usually two or three bodies in his wake. Off the field, I’ve known Don for six years and have never seen him be rude. He always took the time to say hello or shake hands with anyone.”
