High temperatures welcome start of football

Football teams across the state hit the field today as August 1 marked the date that MHSAA schools could begin practice for the 2016 season.

High temperatures across the state ranged from the high 80s in Biloxi to the mid 90s in Tupelo, and the heat indexes across Mississippi reached or exceeded 100 degrees. In addition, administrators are urged to update their coaching staffs on football safety guidelinesthe 14-day heat acclimatization period, and the 5 H’s of athlete safety.
