2027-29 Reclassification Instructions

Today marks the beginning of the MHSAA reclassification process for the 2027-29 period.

An email has been sent to school principals. The email contains these instructions and a link to a form. If you are a school principal and you did not receive this email, please email kwarren@misshaa.com.

In previous reclassification cycles, we have received multiple submissions from the same school, sometimes containing conflicting information. This creates uncertainty about which submission contains the school’s correct enrollment and participation information.

To avoid that issue, we strongly recommend that the superintendent, principal and athletic director meet before completing the form to:

• Determine who will be responsible for completing and submitting the form.
• Confirm the school’s September enrollment.
• Confirm the sports and activities the school plans to participate in during 2027-29.

This year, the form link is being sent only to principals. The principal may determine who should complete and submit the form on behalf of the school.

Important Dates

Reclassification Form Due: September 21, 2026, by 11:59 p.m. CT
Deadline to Make Corrections: September 28, 2026

Before Completing the Form

Please have the following information available:

• Your school’s September enrollment.
• A complete list of the sports and activities your school plans to participate in during 2027-29.
• The email addresses of your superintendent, principal and athletic director.

When the form is submitted, a confirmation email containing a copy of the submission will automatically be sent to all three administrators. The confirmation will include the enrollment information and the sports and activities selected for your school.

Please review the confirmation carefully and make sure all three administrators agree with the information that was submitted. Any errors or omissions should be corrected before we begin creating classifications and regions.

If You Need to Make a Correction

DO NOT SUBMIT A NEW FORM.

The confirmation email will contain an Update link. Use that link to return to your school’s original submission and make any necessary corrections.

You will have until September 28, 2026, to make changes to your enrollment or sports and activities.

Submitting one accurate form for each school will help us make the reclassification process as efficient and accurate as possible. We appreciate your cooperation and ask that the superintendent, principal and athletic director work together to verify the information both before and after the form is submitted.
