Due to catastrophic weather conditions impacting travel safety and operational procedures, the Mississippi High School Activities Association has made the decision to cancel the remainder of the 2026 Middle School Basketball Invitational.
“The safety of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, officials and families is our top priority,” said MHSAA Executive Director Rickey Neaves. “After careful consideration of current conditions, we believe cancellation is the most responsible course of action.”
This decision has been made through an analysis of a combination of factors, including travel considerations, classroom instructional time, and the impact on high school post-season play if the Middle School Basketball Invitational were to be pushed back another week. Initially, middle school basketball was scheduled to be finished on January 31.
