2025-26 MEDIA POLICY

Regular Season Events and Post Season Events for Playoff and State Championship Events

8.0.1 Media rights for MHSAA regular-season events are administered and regulated solely at the discretion of the host school. Please make arrangements with the host school’s Athletic Director or Principal at least 48 hours in advance. The state association encourages schools to accommodate broadcasting and/or live streaming of their regular-season events in all sports.

8.0.2 The NFHS Network is the exclusive broadcast rights holder of all postseason events. Any unauthorized streaming of a postseason game is strictly prohibited and is in direct violation of the MHSAA’s  contract with the NFHS Network.  Any violation of NFHS’s exclusive broadcast rights may result in disciplinary action by the MHSAA or legal action by the NFHS Network.  Please notify your fans, parents and local media of this policy.

8.0.3 Football Per Game Fees

• Live Television: must contact MHSAA for permission and rights fees at least 48 hours before kickoff. Not permitted at Gridiron Classic State Championship games.
• Live Video on Internet/Webstreaming: $750.00 (All classifications). Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours before kickoff.  Not permitted at Gridiron Classic State Championship games. NOTE:  All postseason streaming fees are waived for NFHS Network member schools.  Visit nfhsnetwork.com/sbp for more information.
• Delayed Video on television or Internet: $300.00 (All classifications). Must be delayed at least 12 hours after kickoff.  Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours before kickoff.  Not permitted at Gridiron Classic State Championship games.
• Live Audio on Radio or Internet: $100.00 (all classifications). Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours in advance.
• Delayed Audio on Radio or Internet: $100.00 (All classification).  Must be delayed at least 12 hours after kickoff. Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours in advance.

8.0.4   Basketball Game Fees

• Region/Division Tournaments, First Round, Second Round and Quarter Finals (Fees are per day at one site). NOTE: Checks made payable to the host school and deliver to Principal or AD.
• Live Television: Must contact MHSAA for permission and rights fees.
• Live Video on Internet/Webstreaming: $300.00 (All Classifications). Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours in advance.  All postseason fees are waived for NFHS Network member schools. Visit nfhsnetwork.com/sbp for more information.
• Delayed Video on Television or Internet: $150.00 (All Classifications).  Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours in advance.
• Live Audio on Radio or Internet: $100.00 (all classifications). Must contact MHSAA for permission 48 hours in advance.
• Delayed Audio on Radio/Internet: $100.00 (All classifications).  Must be delayed at least 12 hours after start of event. Must contract MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours in advance.
• MHSAA Basketball Semifinals and State Tournament: NOTE: Checks payable to MHSAA. Live television not permitted at the State Tournament. Championship games will be televised through NFHS Network (affiliates TBA).
• Live Video on Internet/Webstreaming: Not permitted – Semifinals and championship games will be streamed on the NFHS Network, misshsaa.tv.
• Delayed Video on Television or Internet: Not permitted at State Tournament venues
• Live Audio on Radio or Internet: $100.00 (all classifications). Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours in advance.
• Delayed Audio on Radio/Internet: $100.00 (All classifications).  Must be delayed at least 12 hours after start of event. Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours in advance.

8.0.5  Soccer Game Fees /Volleyball Game Fees

• First Round, Second Round and North/South: Fees are per day at one site. NOTE: Check payable to host school.
• Live Television: Must contact MHSAA for permission and rights fees. Championships are not permitted, streamed on the NFHS Network, misshsaa.tv.
• Live Video on Internet/Webstreaming: $200.00 (All classifications).  Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours in advance.  All postseason fees are waived for NHFS Network member schools. Visit nfhsnetwork.com/spb for information.
• Delayed Video on Television or Internet: $100.00 (All classifications).  Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours in advance.
• Live Audio on Radio or Internet: $100.00 (All classifications) / Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours in advance.
• Live Video on Internet/Webstreaming: Not permitted – Championship matches will be streamed on the NFHS Network, misshsaa.tv.
• Delayed Video on Television or Internet: Not permitted at State Championship venue
• Live Audio on Radio or Internet: Championships $100.00 (All classifications) contact MHSAAA for permission 48 hours prior.

8.0.6  Fast Pitch Softball and Baseball Game Fees

• Fees are per day at one site.
• NOTE: Internet streaming fees are waived for NFHS Network affiliated schools only.  For more information on the NFHS Network School Broadcasting program, nfhsnetwork.com/sbp.
• Live Television: Must contact MHSAA for permission and rights fees at least 48 hours in advance. Not permitted at State Championship series.
• Live Video Streaming: $200.00 (All classifications).  Not permitted at State Championship series.  Non-NFHS Network schools must get pre-approval from MHSAA at least 12 hours before first pitch.
• Delayed Television or Video Streaming: $100.00 (All classifications).  Must be delayed at least 12 hours after first pitch. Not permitted at State Championship series.  Must contact MHSAA for permission and rights fees at least 48 hours in advance.
• Live Audio on Radio or Internet: $100.00 (all classifications). Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours prior.
• Delayed Audio on Radio or Internet: $100.00 (All classifications). Must be delayed at least 12 hours after first pitch.  Must contact MHSAA for permission at least 48 hours in advance.

8.1  Payment Information

• Payments are due before the start of each event.
• Media are advised to contact host school’s principal or athletic director at least 72 hours before the start of the event to make arrangements for livestreaming or radio coverage. Please take in to account all recommendations, guidelines and policies put in place by the host school.
• For Playoff games, make check payable to the host school and present to the principal or athletic director.
• For Championship games (radio only), make checks payable to MHSAA.

NOTE:  Any unauthorized broadcasts originating on the campus of the host school, including that of the

school or any fans in attendance, may result in penalty fees from the MHSAAA and NFHS Network.

This includes any form of streaming or live video, including (but not limited to) Facebook Live or

other social media platforms, as well as video through any software service.
