Red, White, and Blue Run set for Sept. 11 at Camp Shelby

CLINTON – The Mississippi High School Activities Association will continue and grow the “Red, White, and Blue Run,” presented by the Mississippi Army National Guard, which will be held at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg on Wednesday, September 11.

“This event provides a platform for us to pay homage to those impacted by the events of September 11 (2001), while bolstering opportunities for positive recognition of our member schools and students,” said MHSAA Executive Director Rickey Neaves. “We appreciate the support of our fantastic partners, including Camp Shelby and the Mississippi Army National Guard, who make it possible for us to showcase the stellar students, coaches, and administrators in our schools across the state.”

The cross country event, open to all MHSAA member schools, will feature the same three high school divisions as last year, plus a division for middle schools. A race for boys’ teams and a race for girls’ teams will be held in each division:

  • Red Division – 1A/2A/3A High Schools
  • White Division – 4A/5A High Schools
  • Blue Division – 6A/7A High Schools
  • Stars & Stripes Division – Middle Schools

The first race will begin at 10:00 am. Awards will be provided to the winning teams and the top 12 runners in each division/race.

Admission for all fans is provided free, courtesy of the Mississippi Army National Guard. Fans will also have the chance to explore the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum (no charge) on the grounds of Camp Shelby.

Teams can register on Milesplit, and the deadline is September 5 at NOON.
