PEARL — Seminary used a strong start on the mound and steady defense to edge Mooreville 2-1 in Game 1 of the MHSAA Class 3A Baseball Championship Series on Tuesday at Trustmark Park.
The Bulldogs scored both of their runs in the third inning and relied on pitchers D Sinclair and J Harvey to hold the lead. Sinclair earned the win, throwing five innings and allowing two hits, one earned run and three walks while striking out eight. Harvey recorded the save.

Mooreville (0-1) managed just three hits and struck out 11 times. The Troopers’ lone run came in the sixth inning on an RBI single by E McDaniels that scored B Thompson. C Goff added a double, one of the team’s three hits.
C Hicks took the loss for Mooreville, allowing eight hits and two earned runs over five innings. D McMillin pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
Game 2 of the best-of-three series is scheduled for Wednesday.
