Garrett leads Booneville to Game 2 shutout win over Enterprise Clarke in 3A Softball Championship

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — May 14, 2025 — Olivia Garrett struck out 10 and allowed six hits over seven shutout innings as Booneville defeated Enterprise Clarke 6-0 on Wednesday in Game 2 of the MHSAA Class 3A softball championship series at the University of Southern Mississippi.

With the win, Booneville (30-4) evened the best-of-three series at one game apiece.

Garrett walked none and faced just four batters over the minimum in a dominant performance. She also helped her own cause at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs, and a walk.

Booneville scored in each of the first two innings, taking a 3-0 lead without the benefit of an extra-base hit. A wild pitch and a passed ball led to two unearned runs in the second. Garrett’s solo homer in the fourth extended the lead to 4-0.

Madison Lambert and Saylor Hatch each added an RBI for the Blue Devils. Booneville capitalized on three Enterprise Clarke errors and aggressive base running, including six stolen bases.

Enterprise Clarke (26-11) managed six hits, two of them from Marley Dearman, but left six runners on base. Dearman took the loss in the circle, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks in 1.2 innings. Brooklyn Bergin and Lillie Addkison pitched in relief.

Booneville turned in an error-free defensive effort while catcher Kamryn King threw out a would-be base stealer and caught a runner at third on a double-steal attempt.
