Starkville 23, Biloxi 16

Starkville High School overcame an early deficit to defeat Biloxi High School 23-16 in the second girls Class 7A game of the morning..

Biloxi led 11-1 after the first quarter and held Starkville to just one made field goal in the opening period. However, Starkville climbed back, outscoring Biloxi 7-3 in the second quarter and 4-0 in the third to cut the deficit to two heading into the final period.

Starkville took control in the fourth, scoring 11 points while holding Biloxi to two. Jada Gay led Starkville with eight points and eight rebounds, while Zariyah Edwards contributed five points and six rebounds.

Biloxi struggled offensively, shooting 25.9% from the field and failing to make a three-pointer. Na’kenya Terry was the team’s top scorer with seven points.

Starkville finished with a slight edge in rebounding, 25-24, and scored 14 points in the paint to Biloxi’s 12.
