| Facility: | Indoor 25-yard pool with a 8 lane, 25-yard competition course with a 5-foot minimum depth and non-turbulent lane lines for short course competition. Automatic timing will be provided by Daktronics Timing System with HYTEK interface, and display scoreboard. Semi-automatic and manual back-up systems will be used. Continuous warm-up/warm-down will be available. Parking is available at the pool and throughout sportsplex facility. Please do not block driveways or park on the grass. Towing will be enforced. Heat Sheets and Concessions will be available for sale. Hospitality will be provided for Coaches and Officials only. Armbands will be provided for a maximum of 2 coaches per team and each official. Armbands must be worn at all times. Seating for schools will be assigned based upon entry numbers. No visiting team will be allowed to claim any areas before the facility opens on Saturday. Times will be sent out as well. |
| Schedule: | Warm-up sessions will begin based upon number of entries received. Meet management will put together warm-up sessions based on entry numbers. 30- minute sessions will be used and all teams will be notified of their warm-up & timing assignments by 5 p.m., Tuesday, October 1st . Officials Meeting: 9:30 a.m. |
| Rules: | Current 2024-2025 NFHS Championship rules/regulations will govern the conduct of the meet unless noted otherwise. Use of audio or visual recording devices, including cell phones, is not permitted behind the starting blocks, rest rooms, or locker rooms. No ice chests will be allowed in the facility other than 1 manageable sized, no larger than a 48- quart for the team, and must be brought in with the coach/manager. No other food/drinks will be allowed in the facility. |
| Eligibility: | All swimmers must have established MHSAA North/South qualifying times during the 2024 MHSAA Swim Season. |
| Meet Format: | Events will be timed finals for each Class I & Class II. Odd numbered events will represent both girls and boys Class I events. Even numbered events will represent both girls and boys Class II events. Meet will run in numerical order running both girl events of each class separate followed by both boy events of each class separate. |
| Entries: | Swimmer may enter a maximum of 4 events, no more than two of which may be Individual events. Teams may enter as many swimmers per individual event and one relay under the qualification standard. Only 4 per team per individual event and one relay may score and/or advance (more information listed in scoring) Please send compatible meet entry file for Hy-Tek Meet Manager or compatible program via email to westjonesswim@gmail.com if you do not have a program please use the website link https://hytek.active.com/downloads.html for downloading the “Lite” version of Team Manager 8.0: All entries must be received no later than (10:00 p.M.) on Sunday, September 29th, 2024. No late entries will be accepted. A confirmation email will be sent once entries are received beginning Saturday, 10/28, 10 a.m. until entry deadline, 10:00p.m. Please fill out the South Half Swim Meet Team Information Document (Excel document) attached with invitation and email along with your entry file. Please make sure to fill out form COMPLETELY. |
| Entry Fee: | $10.00 per swimmer. Make checks payable to: West Jones Checks can be brought with team to check-in or may be mailed to: West Jones Swimming, 254 Springhill Road, Laurel, MS 39443 $10.00 spectator fee. 2 coaches per team and bus driver fees will be waived, these names must be provided on South Half Swim Meet Payment Form attached with the invitation. All teams are required to check-in together. Swimmers will not be allowed to enter individually. |
| Relays: | Relay Names will need to be turned in via relay cards using the following process: 200 Medley Relay- by the end of warm-ups (10:10 a.m.) 200 Free Relay- before event 25 (Girls 500 Yard Freestyle – Class I) 400 Free Relay- before event 33 (Girls 100 Yard Backstroke – Class I) Only swimmers who will be allowed to swim relays at state meet are the 4 swimmers and 4 alternates listed on the relay cards. You can change names until you turn them in Saturday morning. There will be a basket clearly marked relay cards for you to put them in at the table by the stairs of Admin deck. Please note you will not receive relay cards; all relays will report directly to the block. Lane/timer sheets will be used for times. All information including DQ slips will also be put in a file box in the on the table by the stairs of the Admin deck. Disqualification infractions will also be listed on the final results .pdf. |
| Scoring: | Only four (4) swimmers for individual events and one (1) relay per team will be eligible for scoring if they achieve the meet qualifying time per event. Individual (top 8): 9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 Relays: Double For state championship qualification, swimmers must qualify in the North/South meet, finish in the top 6 of their North/South meet, or be in the next fastest top 4 of either meet, and all must have achieved the North/South half qualification standard. Only 4 swimmers from each team per individual and 1 relay team may advance to State Championships. |
| Awards: | South Half Champion & Runner-Up; for both girls and boys Class I & II teams. |
| Officials | Officials will be current USA Swimming certified officials who will follow current NFHS rules and regulations and current USA Swimming rules and regulations for USA Swimming observed swims. |
