CLINTON – The 2023-2024 Mississippi high school sports campaign starts with the inaugural Mississippi Volleyball Invitational, hosted by the Mississippi High School Activities Association and featuring 32 elite teams from throughout the state on August 4-5 at the Jackson Convention Center.
“We’re thrilled to host this event and enjoy some of the best volleyball action our state has to offer,” said LeAnna Dawson, MHSAA Assistant Director. “The environment will be electric with eight courts of pool play on Friday and teams competing for the title of two separate brackets on Saturday.”
Pool play begins Friday at 11:00 am, and teams will play three matches to determine seeding (1-4) within each pool. The top two teams in the pool will advance to the Gold bracket on Saturday, and the bottom two teams in each pool will play in the Silver bracket. Bracket placement will be randomly selected once play concludes and seeding is determined Friday evening.
On Saturday, the first round of Silver bracket play begins at 9:00 am, followed by the Gold bracket first round at 10:30 am. Competition in each bracket continues throughout the day with the championships played simultaneously at 5:00 pm.
Admission is $10 per day, and tickets are available through GoFan (www.gofan.co/app/school/MISSHSAA). Concessions will be available, and no outside food or drink will be allowed in the Jackson Convention Center.
