Amory forces game 3 with win over St. Stanislaus

GameChanger Game Summary

Amory jumped out to an early lead over St. Stanislaus and took home an 8-5 victory on Thursday to force a game 3 showdown.

The Panthers scored on a groundout by Corbin Gillentine, a double by Cayden Smith, and a single by Walker Maranto in the second inning.

After Amory scored two runs in the top of the fifth, St. Stanislaus answered with two of their own.  Amory scored when Smith singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.  The Rock-a-chaws then answered when Kyle Stegall doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.

Amory pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning.  In the second Gillentine grounded out, scoring one run, Smith doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, and Maranto singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Bryce Glenn toed the rubber for Amory Panthers. The ace went seven innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out six.

Hugh LeMasters led things off on the hill for St. Stanislauss. The pitcher allowed 11 hits and five runs over four innings, striking out one and walking none.  Jeremy Mares and Tate Murphy entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one and one-third innings respectively.

Amory tallied 13 hits.  Braden Maranto, Smith, Glenn, Jack Clayton, and Maranto each managed multiple hits for Amory.  Smith and Maranto all had three hits to lead Amory.

St. Stanislaus totaled seven hits.  Stegall and LeMasters all managed multiple hits for the Rock-a-chaws.
