October is National High School Activities Month

Each week throughout the month-long celebration we will recognize various aspects of our sports and activities programs across the state. Participants in these activities are exposed to leadership skills, perseverance, organizational skills and how to be a team player. The lessons learned will stay with them long after their high school years.

October 1-4, 2019
National sportsmanship, fan appreciation, and public-address announcers week.

Ways to celebrate:

  •  “Spotlight” each area on the school’s website or social media platforms
  •  After athletic event acknowledge those participants who showed sportsmanship
  •  Include characteristics of sportsmanship in your morning/afternoon announcements
  •  Introduce and acknowledge at half-time the length of service of your school’s game announcers

National Performing Arts Week

October 14-18, 2019
National coaches, sponsors, advisors/officials appreciation week

October 21-25, 2019
National community service, youth awareness appreciation week
