Neshoba Central, Newton County continue slow pitch dominance

Neshoba Central and Newton County successfully defended their titles Oct. 22nd at the MHSAA C Spire Slow-Pitch Softball State Championships hosted by Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.

Results from the best-of-three series:

In Class 6A/5A, Neshoba defeated George County 12-1 and 18-7 for a fifth consecutive championship. The Lady Rockets finished 28-7. The Lady Rebels ended 25-10.

In Class 4A, Newton County defeated West Lauderdale 1-3, 16-13 and 8-3 for a fourth consecutive championship and 10th overall. The Lady Cougars finished 29-6. The Lady Knights ended 27-9.

In Class 3A, Choctaw Central defeated Mooreville 6-5 and 13-2 for its second championship. The Lady Warriors finished 25-5. The Lady Troopers ended 20-10.

In Class 2A, East Webster defeated Bay Springs 15-5 and 15-8 for its second championship in three years. The Lady Wolverines finished 28-4. The Lady Bulldogs ended 19-5.

In Class 1A, Hamilton defeated Bogue Chitto 18-11, 15-19 and 15-2. It was the third championship since 2012 for the Lady Lions and eighth overall. Hamilton finished 28-9. Bogue Chitto ended 21-10.
