Message from MMEA President

Dear Mississippi Music Educators,

As president of MMEA, I would like to welcome you back to the 2017-2018 school year. I hope that you have gotten off to a good start with your choral programs. I’m sure you will be back in your routine in no time. We have some of the best music teachers here in Mississippi and produce music makers that rock our world.

With the resignation of Emily Clark as Junior High President, the Executive Board had to step in to fill some gaps in order to keep things running smoothly for you. Emily Massey is the new President, Kristy Brumfield moves up to President Elect, and Andy Beasley has agreed to come on board as Secretary. Erin Linton, Past President, is going to step back in and assist with the State Choral Assessment. I will be here to help in any way that is needed.

We are all diligently working on updating the handbook to reflect the changes along with who is in charge of what event. There are even a few date changes. As soon as everything has been taken care of, you will receive a notice to check the website for the updated handbook. If you have any questions, please contact Emily Massey as the new JH president.

Please be patient with us as we put the final touches on the updates. There are only a few more items to be addressed and all will be well. We have such a wonderful board who works hard and is stepping up, going above and beyond to serve you. I am blessed to have so many capable volunteers who will do what it takes to ensure that our students are offered the best music education possible in Mississippi.
Chris Young
MMEA President
