Requirements to become an official:

  • Any person 18 years of age or over and a high school graduate may apply for registration as an MHSAA Official with a local association.
  • The application shall include references and payment of registration fees for one season.
  • Membership may be renewed by payment of the annual registration fee, with a satisfactory record for the previous year.
  • All officials that were not registered by the MHSAA the previous year will be recognized for one year.
  • The annual MHSAA registration is $35.00 for each sport.
  • While officiating is an avocation, it is one which requires dedication. Players who have practiced long hours deserve competent officials who have a complete understanding of the letter, as well as the spirit of the rules and administer them consistently and fairly.

You have been invited to take part in the NFHS rules-writing process by taking the annual soccer rules questionnaire. This questionnaire is provided so the opinions of a national sampling of coaches and registered officials will be considered by the NFHS Soccer Rules Committee. THE QUESTIONNAIRE WILL CLOSE ON DECEMBER 2. To participate in the questionnaire process, please follow the link below to the Questionnaire menu and select your appropriate sport link to complete the rules questionnaire. You are NOT required to log in to take this questionnaire.  We thank you in advance for your participation. http://www.nfhs.org/questionnaire    Contact: mailto:nfhswebmaster@nfhs.org if you have any questions
