2009 STATE CROSS COUNTRY MEET INFORMATION
DATE: November 7, 2009 SITE: Mississippi College Choctaw Trails – Watson Cross Country Course
ORDER OF EVENTS:



Runners are to report to the starting line fifteen (15) minutes before the start of each race.
ENTRIES INFORMATION: A team will consist of a minimum of five runners and a maximum of seven. A school may enter fewer than five runners to compete as individuals. A school may enter up to 10 runners (a team of seven plus three alternates). All entries will be issued a competitor number. Any seven of the entries may compete in the state meet.
ENTRY METHOD: All entries will be done on-line at www.coacho.com! ONLY ON-LINE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED!!! There is no charge to school entering online! To enter your team: (1) log on to www.coacho.com, (2) On the main page click Calendar, (3) On the Calendar page scroll down to November 2009 and select MHSAA State Cross Country Championships, (4) At the Main Menu page select a function to begin the entry process. For step-by-step entry instructions click HELP! IMPORTANT: YOUR 4-CHARACTER “TEAM (SCHOOL) CODE” WILL HAVE TO BE ENTERED THE FIRST TIME YOU LOG ON TO COACHO EACH SEASON (XC OR TRACK). These codes are found in this section of the MHSAA Sports Information Manual!!! Your PIN number will be used each time after your first log on!!!
Entries Open: Monday, October 5, 2009 Entries Close: Monday, November 2, 2009
Schools will not be able to enter on-line after midnight Monday, November 2 without first contacting Coach N. Z. Bryant with the MHSAA. Schools will be charged $25.00 for each day they are late making their on-line entries!

ENTRY FEES: $5.00 per runner with a maximum of $35.00 per team (boys and girls teams are separate). Entry fees may be mailed or brought to the state meet. Make checks payable to Pearl High School. Mail entry fees to: Woody Barnett, Pearl High School, 500 Pirate Cove, Pearl, MS 39208.
ENTRY CONFIRMATION: Coaches are urged to bring their entry confirmation with them to the state meet.
MEET REGISTRATION:
1. Check in at the meet center and pickup team packet.
2. Enclosed in your team packet are:
· Assigned contestant numbers with the school and athletes name printed on the lower tear-away portion. All entered runners (up to ten) have an assigned competitor number. Each athlete will be required to have their assigned number pinned on the front of their jersey in order to compete (DO NOT PIN THE TEAR-AWAY PORTION).
· Course Maps, Starting Box Assignment Sheet, & Safety Pins
3. ANY SEVEN OF A SCHOOL’S ENTRIES MAY COMPETE! There will be no changes or substitutions, only corrections on the day of the meet!!
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Course is grass and spikes can be used if desired. All boys’ races are 5000 meters and all girls’ races are 4000 meters. Pace clocks will be set up at the mile and 2-mile marks.
CHUTE: Coaches should instruct their athletes to keep moving all the way through the chute unless stopped by a meet official. A barcode scanner will be used for recording the order of finish at the end of the chute!!!
CLEAN UP: Please keep area clean by placing all trash in cans and trash bags provided at meet check in.
UNIFORM: Each athlete must wear a school issued uniform. NO JEWELRY!!!
RESULTS: Results for each class will be posted on the results’ board after each award ceremony. Complete results will be posted on the Internet at www.misshsaa.com the evening of the state meet.
