STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS INFORMATION
Radio Broadcast - $75.00 per game or $150.00 for tournament.
Division schedule completed by April 14 for 1A/2A/3A/4A – April 21 for 5A.
1. Notify the MHSAA state office and your district secretary as soon as the champion and runner-up has been decided. You must also notify the MHSAA immediately after qualifying for the next round.
2. Suspended game and winner cannot be determined:
A. Regulation Game: Rule 4-2-3 of National Baseball Rule Book
B. If a game is called before completion of the number of innings and conditions as specified in Rule 4-2-3 of the National Federation Baseball Rule Book, such game shall be considered a suspended game and shall be continued from point of suspension at a later time at the same site. Regulation tie games, (5 full innings) shall be treated as suspended game and the game will be continued from the point of interruption at the site of the next game. The lineup and batting order of each team shall be exactly the same as the lineup and batting order at the moment of suspension, subject to the rules governing the game.
C. If the game cannot be played on schedule because of rain, the host school should contact the visiting school and the chief umpire. Games are to be made up the following day if weather permits.
3. Three officials will be assigned to work each game. The plate umpires are to be paid $50.00 and base umpires are to be paid $45.00 per game plus 40¢ per mile one way. The officials should be paid after each session. If the officials have left home for the game and the game is rained out prior to the start of the game, the officials will be paid mileage plus $15.00.
4. Each team must furnish three new baseballs to start each game and maintain no less than two of these balls until the game is completed. Wilson balls #A1010 HS1-RS must be used.
5. Each team must complete an “Official Team Eligibility Roster” on page 41 of this manual and mail it to the MHSAA office.
6. Passes - Coaches of the participating schools, baseball participants and managers, driver of team bus (coaches must identify each), press representatives with press identification cards, and law enforcement officials in uniform are entitled to passes to all games. State Passes will be the only pass recognized.
7. A team may use a courtesy runner for the pitcher and/or catcher. Other speed-up rules will be optional.
8. Officials will be selected by the MHSAA office. The decisions of game officials are final.
9. The Regional tournament will be a double elimination tournament at the site of the number one seeded team.
10. The playoffs will be the best of 3 series format.
11. Classes
1A - 4A: The first game of the first round will be played at the site of the #4
and #3 seed on
April 18. The second game and possible third game will be played
at the site of #1 and #2 seed on
April 19.

12. The first round of class 5A will be a double elimination tournament held at the site of the #1 team on April 24, 25, and 26.
13. The
remainder of the tournament will be the best two out of three format with rounds
played on
consecutive days whenever
possible.
